Nationally

  • The Crown Estate manages a highly diverse £6 billion property portfolio across the UK.
  • Every year we pay all of our surplus revenue to the Treasury for the benefit of all UK taxpayers - in 2008/09 this was £226.5 million.
  • Our integrity is measured in the relationships we build, how we manage our estates, the long term approach we take to our investments and the support we give to communities.

Locally

  •  We manage over 4,000 hectares of land in and around Taunton. This includes 24 farms, mostly dairy, several small businesses and 100 homes and cottages.
  • We have invested in a number of our tenanted farms to help them expand and diversify and are currently undertaking an investment programme to improve and enhance the quality of our residential properties.
  • Outside of our core estate activity we have been involved in a number of local education and community projects, including the Neroche public access project.
  • We are working in partnership with Natural England and Taunton Deane Borough Council on the establishment of a local nature reserve at Gadds Valley.
